How to be a cover-up sensation on the beach?

Whatever your shape

Whatever your size

Whatever you don’t feel confident about

Make this summer different.

So if you are a big girl, a curvy girl, a skinny girl, a too ashamed to take your clothes off kind of girl – keep reading because we can help you create the illusion of fabulous and give you the confidence to walk the beach in style.

Have you heard of swim bras and swim briefs? We had certainly missed this one. So check out Elomi Swimwear  available online and at Debenhams.

This bra in black gives up the support and comfort you need without the fear of falling out of an itsy bitsy bikini.

Team it up with the black high waisted briefs to pull in and flatten where you feel you need it. This range is called Yarra and what makes it truly fabulous on the beach is this flared tankini that you wear over the top of the bra and briefs.

It’s in tan, chocolate and black animal print and worn with the swim briefs and swim bra it is perfect for sitting on the beach, walking to the bar and for taking a stylish dip.

The whole outfit exudes confidence according to designers Elomi and after taking a look ourselves we believe them.

But what if you are not curvy and your confidence dips because your hips stick out or your chest is flatter than the M25?

We love this Tahloola slashed, fringe cover-up from Agent Provocateur. Wear it over a bikini or swimsuit and cause waves on any beach this summer. It’s the ultimate confidence booster. We make no apologies for featuring this item yet again.

But don’t be put off by the Agent Provocateur price. It’s gorgeous but this ASOS Crochet Fringed Beach Tee at only £30 is a good alternative for those looking to create an illusion this summer.

It’s crocheted, has a ribbed bodice and tassel fringing from the waist downwards. The tassels feel great as you sashay across the sand.

All three beach outfits will allow seductive swirling this summer whatever it is we are trying to hide.

Any other tips for making a confident entry to beaches?

Boudoir is ‘en vacance’ until June 11th ….

Boudoir is taking ‘une petite vacance’ until after the Jubilee and will be checking out french lingerie and reporting back later.

There will be no Newsletter next week.

But on this Fabulous Friday let’s leave you with this stunning image.

Photo of Sian's winning design for Triumph competition

Sian Whitefoot – a student at Leicester’s De Montfort University was the winner of the Triumph competition earlier this week. Boudoir backed her colleague Kate Howard, but Sian – from Sale in Cheshire – is a well deserved winner.

This white lace bodysuit wowed the judges at the UK finals of the Triumph Inspiration Awards. Felicitations Sian! A future star of the lingerie world.

De Montfort creates the next generation of Janet Regers

Photo of Kate HowardYoung lingerie designer, Kate Howard, is being tipped for great things. She is one of 16 students showcasing her talent in a competition organised by one of the world’s leading lingerie designers – Triumph.

Kate – a Contour Fashion student at Leicester’s illustrious De Montfort University – has taken the theme of Butterflies and Dragons and come up with a sensational design.

Based on the translucency of butterfly wings she has created these billowing sleeves. The effect is stunning as are the vibrant colours on the mesh body.

If you want to vote for Kate go to:

Voting closes in two days and the winner will be announced on May 23rd.

Seven other De Montfort students have also been shortlisted for the Triumph Inspiration Awards. The global final will take place in Shanghai in October.

De Montfort – once Leicester School of Art – has a sixty year history of producing top lingerie designers. Janet Reger is one of their most famous daughters and her underwear is still in production even though she sadly died of breast cancer in 2005. Other De Montfort designers can be found at Abercrombie & Fitch, Jack Wills, Coco de Mer, Fleur of England and many, many more top lingerie companies.

Kate Howard is only 21. I’m sure everyone in her home town – Merthyr Tydfil – will be voting for her. Boudoir has clicked through to vote for Kate.

This creation has grace and beauty and perfectly fits what we think is a ‘boudoir illusion’. It’s very Helen Mirren who always makes her arms look beautiful using a range of see through and ‘smoke and mirror’ fabrics.

Fingers crossed for Kate. Have you voted for her yet?

There’s more to Ann Summers than sex …

There’s more to Ann Summers than sex …

… Or so my daughter told me when she recently came home with an Ann Summers bag. Worried at what she might have bought I was relieved to see two perfectly lovely bras – one red, one black. They’ve both been washed and still look good and my daughter claims they are the most comfortable bras she has ever had. The cups hold her in place and look good underneath tight clothes.

Not brave enough to venture into the shop myself I decided to have a peek online. And this is what I found.

This matching bra and pants set is Boudoir’s ‘Illusion’ tip for this week.

The high waisted pants are very flattering. The contrasting shades of purple with the mesh panels are attractive enough to distract attention from any of those bulges some of us might just have. The suspenders are detachable and sizes range from 8 to 20.

Complete the illusion with the balconette bra. It fastens at the front and the longline design is perfect with the high waisted pants.

How many of us have walked by an Ann Summers thinking ‘not for me’?

Maybe there’s more to it than rubber and rabbits?

Jennifer Saunders Moon Walks and raises money for breast cancer

Photo of the start of MoonWalk 2012

Photo of MoonWalkers

While most of us were sleeping from midnight Saturday until mid morning Sunday thousands of women – and some men – took to the streets of London wearing fantastically decorated bras.

Photo of Jennifer Saunders MoonWalk

Ab Fab creator, Jennifer Saunders, was sporting a sparkly Swarovski crystal bra as she joined thousands to walk 26 miles through London at night to raise funds for breast cancer. Having fought the disease herself – and got the all clear in 2010 – she braved the low temperatures and bared her chest for a good cause.

This was the 15th annual MoonWalk marathon to raise money for breast cancer research. Over £77million has been raised during this time and Saturday night’s turn out was huge and is sure to push that figure up even further.

It was a star studded night with former Page 3 girls Jilly Johnson and Nina Carter walking in memory of their former boss – British lingerie designer – Janet Reger. Janet Reger died from this diease in 2005. Walking with these two was Anthea Turner remembering her friend, and colleague, Caron Keating who died in 2004 aged only 41.

So bras off to all these fantastic walkers who sacrificed a night in a warm bed to raise money for one of the biggest killers of women every year.
